Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Indonesia
If you have any up coming travel plans or are travelling to Indonesia in the next couple of weeks, its likely you have questions about the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) may have on these. To help you understand if it may, or not affect your travels plans, below we have listed the travel advisories for Indonesia and specifically Sumatra. However, we recommend that you consult your own government health advisory for more information if you are travelling from your own country.
We have also listed some useful common questions with answers, as well information on bookings, cancellations and refunds due to the Coronavirus.

May 2022 - Singapore airlines and Malaysia airlines to start flights into Kualanamu airport again

6th April 2022 - Visa on arrival allowed for 43 countires. Kualanamu Airport open for Visa on Entry. No longer need to quarantine on arrival for fully vaccinated

Who can enter Indonesia now?
Indonesia is allowing some foreigners to enter the country. However, they must meet COVID-19 entry requirements.
The following are allowed to enter Indonesia at this time:

Diplomatic and official visa holders
-
Diplomatic and official stay permit holders
-
Holders of Indonesia Temporary Residence Card (KITAS)
-
Holders of Indonesia Permanent Residence Card (KITAP)
-
Visitor and limited stay visas
-
All non-immigrant crew members or cabin crews arriving in any vessel or aircraft
-
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel cardholder

Traditional Border Crossing pass/cardholder.

Visa on Arrival is still suspended - see below
All visa applications must now be done online through the Indonesian immigration portal.
Will I have to quarantine?
-
Unvaccinated - Pre-departure PCR needed 48 hours before. Have to undergo 5 day quarantine.

Vaccinated 1 dose - Negative PCR 2x24 hrs before departure.

Fully vaccinated - Pre-departure PCR needed 48 hours before. No PCR on arrival needed and no need to quarantine on entry
Visitor Visa
In order to obtain the B211 visitor visa, you must have a sponsor in Indonesia – a process that can be easily completed with the help of a visa agent. The application is summitted online so you do not have to go to the embassy. More information about this can be found online. Generally this visa can only be obtained for business purposes, but people have been using it to get into Indonesia.

The Gunung Leuser National Park is now officially now open to visitors!
We are accepting local and international visitors. We will be checking your COVID-19 PCR health certificates and making sure you are fit to trek.


Entering Indonesia for Tourism purposes
From 7th March 20202, 23 nationalities (including UK, USA, Australia) can now enter Indonesia via Bali for tourism purposes.... quarantine free, if fully vaccinated. They must also have health insurance covering covid-19. This is a trial quarantine-free opening. These nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival for the cost of 500,000 rupiah. This is valid for 30 days and can be extended once only. All other nationalities have to apply for a visit visa 211A.
Current conditions of VoA and Quarantine Free

Must be fully vaccinated or have received a booster

Have a negative PCR test result before departure

Proof of payment of hotel bookings for a minimum of four days in Bali

Have health insurance that guarantees COVID-19 treatment according to the provisions

Undergo another PCR test at the arrival gate of Bali
-
Travellers with negative results may explore the Island of the Gods, whereas those with positive results are required to undergo isolation at the hotel and take another PCR test on the third day

Negative PCR test results on the third day mean the travellers can continue their travels on the fourth day.... meaning you can travel to Sumatra!!
